Greta Ann Barnett

Greta Ann Barnett, 70, of Shepherd, Texas passed away on Thursday, October 2, 2014. She was born on Monday, January 31, 1944 in Shelbyville, Texas to William Eugene Powell and Gladys Murie (Kelley) Powell, both of whom have preceded her in death. Greta was also preceded in death by two of her sons, Michael Leon Barnett and Dan Eugene Barnett; sister- in- law, Diana Powell; Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Alvin Leon Barnett; two daughters, Deborah Lynn (Barnett) Parker of Shepherd, Texas , Pamela Michelle (Barnett) Long and husband Kevin of Houston, Texas; sister, Mildred Powell Benton and husband Eldon; two brothers, Marvin Eugene Powell and David Nathaniel Powell; grandchildren, Ty Parker, Shelby Lawler, Grant Long and Brooklyn Long; numerous other loving family and treasured friends. Visitation for Greta will be held at Shepherd United Pentecostal Church on Sunday, October 5, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Shepherd United Pentecostal Church at 11:00 am. Interment for Greta will immediately follow at Magnolia Park Cemetery in Dayton, Texas. Pastor Greg Gerald and Reverend Guy Hargrave, Officiating. Family wishes to acknowledge the courage and strength that helped her through the trials and tribulations that afflicted her body over her lifetime, never complaining and placing her full trust in her God. She had a consistent prayer life, loved going to God's house and served him with all of her heart. She loved her family so much and will be greatly missed.
