Melvie Lee "Mel" Whitmire, 84, of Cleveland, Texas passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016. She was born on Friday, April 24, 1931 in Fostoria, Texas to Melvin Allen Whitmire and Beulah L (Buckalew) Whitmire, both of whom have preceded her in death. Melvie was also preceded in death by her son, Douglas Wayne Cardwell, special daughter-in-law, Elaine Cardwell; brother, Buddy; sisters, Faye and Bernice and Billie. Left to cherish her memory is her loving daughter, Chris Hodge and husband Jim; 4 grandchildren, Michelle, Davina, Nadine and John; 6 great-grandchildren, Matthew, Kaylee, Jordan, Nicki, Danae, Katy, Emily and Wyatt; 2 great -great grandchildren, Layla and Mattix; three sisters, Hazel, Odessa and Pearl; five brothers, William "DD", Ray, Marion "Bean", Arthur and Lewis; numerous other loving family and treasured friends. Graveside Services for Mel will be held at Morgan Cemetery, Cleveland, Texas on April 01, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.
