Barbara Laniese Horner

Barbara Laniese Horner was born in Corrigan, Texas on November 6, 1957 and passed away July 3, 2019 in Houston, Texas at the age of 61. Barbara worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Coldspring Terrace Property Owners Improvement Association, and as a cook at local restaurant Paradise Grille, where she took great pride in her work. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, had a strong testimony of her Savior and loved visiting with and helping members of her ward. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her daughter Rachel and the rest of her family, as well as very dear neighbors and friends. She adored her three cats: Cece, Buttercup and Little Grey. She loved baking for people and was well-loved for her hearty chicken fried steak and savory gumbo. Before she grew ill, it was her greatest joy to see her daughter married to the love of her life in the temple. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Edgar Hughes and Bonnie Sutton; and brother, Lloyd Steven “Steve” Hughes. Barbara is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Rachel Berg and Jeff Berg of Conroe, Texas; brother David “Shorty” Hughes and wife Laura of Livingston, Texas; sisters, Darlene “Dixie” Lewis and Lynne Hughes, both of Livingston, Texas; numerous other family members and friends, and members of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints in Cleveland, Texas. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Sunday, July 21, 2019 at 6 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, 1100 Southline St. Cleveland, Texas 77327, with Bishop James Van Duker officiating.
