Dora Hudson “Doe Doe” Cohn Guinn

Dora Hudson Cohn Guinn passed away February 28, 2019 in Cleveland, Texas.  Doe Doe, as she was known for most of her life, was born January 27, 1924 in Cleveland.  She was the daughter of Frank Herman Cohn, a native of Walker Co., Texas, and Mary Era Isaacks Cohn, whose family were pioneers in Liberty Co., Texas.  Dora was a 1940 graduate of Cleveland High School and attended Sam Houston State University.  She and Royce Denzil Guinn, also of Cleveland, were united in marriage on March 20, 1946.  They were the parents of three children:  Royce Denzil Guinn, Jr., (who died January 20, 2002), Mat Culberson Guinn of Bellaire, Texas and Gwendolyn Faye Guinn Taylor of Tarkington, Texas.   Dora spent her working life as a legal secretary for her husband who passed away May 28, 2010.  Mr. Guinn’s legal practice was entrusted to his daughter upon his death.

Mrs. Guinn is survived by son Mat Guinn and daughter-in-law Connie Benning Guinn; Gwendolyn Guinn Taylor and son-in-law Robert S. Taylor and grandson Strafford Guinn Taylor; daughter-in-law Tessie (widow of Royce Guinn, Jr.) and grandchildren Trina Michelle Guinn, Eleana (Nina) Danielle Guinn Brazle (widow of Marlon Brazle), and William Matthew Guinn.  Her only great-grandchild is Pepper Maya Brazle.  Mrs. Guinn is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Doe Doe’s service will be at the Neal Funeral Home in Cleveland on Wednesday, March 6, officiated by James McMillan of The First United Methodist Church.  Visitation will be at noon, and the memorial service will begin at 2:00.  Burial will follow at the Cleveland Cemetery.  Afterward friends and family are invited to partake of food graciously provided by the First Methodist Church of Cleveland where Mrs. Guinn was a member for many years.
