Adryann "Rusty" McCrory, whose gentle spirit and boundless warmth touched so many, passed away peacefully with family by her side on March 2, 2026, in Livingston, Texas, at the age of 92. Born November 2, 1933, in Houston Texas, she lived a life filed with community service, creativity and love with everyone lucky enough to cross her path.
Rusty taught many in her community how to swim, ensuring that they not only learned a valuable life skill but also built confidence that would last a lifetime. Rusty's heart was at the center of Rusty's Gift Shop, a place where neighbors became friends and friends became family. Her laughter and encouragement turned simple crafts into treasured memories and her door was always open to anyone in need of a smile or a listening ear. Her devotion to the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council spanned an astonishing 76 years. Rusty believed fiercely in the power of girls and adults alike. She gave her time, energy and love to nurturing their dreams. For many, she was like a second mother/grandmother-her guidance shaping lives in ways that will ripple for decades.
She leaves behind her children: Billie Everett McCrory Jr. and wife Heidi, Kathleen McCrory and husband Billy Layfield, Michael Allen McCrory and wife Kellie, Fran Manwaring and Richard Manske, and Tina McCrory and wife Kaynell Kirk. "Meemaw" was the proud grandmother to: Chesley Dietzel, Heather VanValkenburg, James McCrory, Kaleb Manwaring, Devin Manwaring, Kirin McCrory, Austin McCrory, and Adrian Marin-McCrory. "Meemaw" was blessed with great-grandchildren: Lauren Vaughn, Kaler Manwaring, Konner Manwaring, Ryann Dietzel, Blake VanValkenburg, Tristan Manwaring, and Katie VanValkenburg. Adryann's love extended even further, embracing her sister, Myrna McCullough and her brother, Buddy Dacus, along with many others she claimed as family. Adryann now joins her beloved husband, Billie Everett, Sr., her daughter, Terri McCrory and her parents, Adrian Clyde Dacus and Frances Emma Martin, in eternal rest. Those who knew her will carry forward the example she set-her warmth, her creative spark and the kindness she showed to all. Her legacy is one of love and her spirit will live on in every life she brightened along the way: a true legend.
In honor of Rusty's memory, a visitation will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, both located at Neal Funeral Home 200 S. Washington Ave, Cleveland, Texas 77327.
In honor of Adryann "Rusty" McCrory, and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly invites you to consider making a donation to the Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council.
