Amy Michelle Gustavus, a cherished member of her community, passed away on July 25, 2025, in Oakhurst, Texas, at the age of 45. Born on August 20, 1979, in Longview, Texas. Amy lived a life that profoundly touched the hearts of those around her.
Amy was a graduate of Tatum High School, Class of 1997, and continued her education at Kilgore College. Her professional journey led her to become a dedicated assistant to local doctors, reflecting her commitment to helping others. In her later years, she embraced the role of a stay-at-home mom and caregiver to her father-in-law, a position she approached with unwavering love and devotion.
Amy was married to her beloved husband, Jerry DeWayne Gustavus, for 11 wonderful years. Amy's loving son, Nathan Scott Davis, and his girlfriend, Holly Reed, and Amy's beautiful daughter, Alyssa Ann Gibbons also brought immense joy to her life. Amy and Jerry created a nurturing environment for their family, which includes her sons, Christian Gustavus, Wyatt Gustavus, Evan Gustavus, and Trent Byrd. She is survived by her father, Randy Barton and his wife Linda, and her mother, Karen Byrum. Her family also includes brothers, Travis Barton and his wife Angie, Benjamin McKnight, and a sister Britney Kirt and her husband Cody, along with a host of other loving relatives and friends.
Amy had a personality that radiated warmth, and in her early life, she cherished spending time with her children. Over the last 11 years, her love for them grew even deeper as she engaged in countless activities, fostering their dreams and aspirations. Among her favorite pastimes, she found joy in arts and crafts, immersing herself in music, and watching movies.
As a proud member of Cross Point Church in Kilgore, Texas, in her younger years, Amy embraced her faith as a guiding force in her life.
The legacy Amy leaves behind is one of love, kindness, and unwavering support for her family. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Visitation services for Amy Michelle Gustavus will be held on August 1, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Both services will take place at Neal Funeral Home, located at 200 South Washington Avenue, Cleveland, TX 77327. A burial will take place at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview, Texas immediately thereafter.
