Beverly Herrod, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, went to be with her Heavenly Father on May 5, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and unwavering faith. Born on May 24, 1941, in Houston, Texas, Beverly devoted her life to the betterment of her community and the nurturing of her family.
Beverly's professional journey saw her at the Shepherd Public Library, where her dedication to enriching the lives of others shone brightly. Her compassion and commitment reached far beyond her professional duties, as she volunteered with the Emergency Medical Services and served as a first responder for many years in San Jacinto County. Beverly also lovingly cared for individuals in need as a home health caregiver, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched.
A woman of many talents, Beverly found joy in volunteering at the Shepherd Senior Citizen Center, creating connections and sharing moments of laughter and warmth with others. Her hobbies reflected her vibrant spirit, from baking her favorite sweets to exploring her artistic side through arts and crafts, sewing, quilting, wedding cake decorating, and painting. Beverly also nurtured a green thumb, cultivating beauty and life in every garden she tended.
Above all, Beverly was a faithful servant to the Lord, embodying the principles of kindness and generosity throughout her life. She cherished every moment spent with her family, and her legacy will carry on in their hearts. She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Doug Herrod, and her loving children: Sherry McClain and husband James, Susan Tidwell and husband Andrew, Sammy Herrod and wife Connie, Gene Herrod and wife Brandi, Michael Herrod and wife Kimberly, along with her daughter-in-law, Stacey Herrod. Beverly continued to delight in the joys of life through her grandchildren, Joshua Thurman, Samuel Thurman, Chrissy Woodward, Dayna Sallies, Robert Herrod, Jennifer Mettlen, Karl Herrod, Rebecca Legg, Taylor Gentry, Dustin Parker, Alley Fountain, Tory Herrod, Gerrod Herrod, Chelsea Herrod, Chasity Herrod, Meaghan Herrod, Samantha Hoffman, Alex Herrod, and great-grandchildren, Elliott, Tate, Carsyn, Mack, Levi, Eli, Emarie, Grayson, Piper, Waylon, CJ, Waverly, Braeden, Payslei, Maddie, Maverick, Kate, Sailor, Mavryck,, Skylar, Harlee, Gabriel, who will forever carry her spirit in their actions and memories. Beverly also leaves behind many other loving family members and a host of treasured friends.
Beverly was preceded in death by her beloved son, Daniel Lee Herrod; her parents, James Edward Campbell and Ruth Morris; and her brother, Robert Douglas Campbell. Their presence is felt in the love and resilience she exemplified daily.
Visitation for Beverly will be held at Neal Funeral Home in Cleveland, Texas, on May 9, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow at Farley Chapel Cemetery in Shepherd, Texas.
