Obituary

Brenda Gail Duff, a devoted daughter, mother, and grandmother, entered into enteral rest on March 27, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and unyielding kindness. Born on September 11, 1945, in Blytheville, Arkansas, Brenda moved to Houston at a young age, where she would lay down deep roots and touch countless lives with her generous spirit.

Despite facing tremendous adversity, including a harrowing car accident that nearly claimed her life, Brenda’s resilience never waned. A vibrant and spirited individual from early on, Brenda was a proud alumna of Galena Park High School, where she shone as a member of the twirling and drill team, known as "The Jacketeers." Her zest for life extended beyond the classroom—she was a professional skater in her youth, a passion that kept her heart lively and her spirit free. Brenda’s love for horses and rodeo culture was evident in her dedication as a barrel racer, a hobby that brought her joy and fulfillment.

Midway through her life, she made the courageous decision to return to school to earn her LVN license. This pivotal chapter marked her deep commitment to caring for the elderly, the sick, and the disabled. Her generous and unselfish nature blossomed through her career, where she was a beacon of comfort and compassion.

Brenda’s family was the cornerstone of her life. Among Brenda’s prouder accomplishments was the role she played in raising her grandson, Charles Robert. She embraced the responsibility of both mother and grandmother with an open heart, nurturing and supporting him always. Brenda’s family—especially her son, Larry Dean Duff Jr., and her grandson—were central to her life’s joys and the love she so freely gave and are blessed to carry forward her memory. Her triumph over cancer twice is a testament to her fierce spirit and unwavering determination. Brenda’s faith was a pillar of strength throughout her life; reading her Bible nightly was a cherished ritual, one she intensified during her final days by reading it twice daily.

Those who knew Brenda fondly remember the special ways she made holidays magical. Christmas and Easter held a special place in her heart, and she made sure that these celebrations were unforgettable for everyone around her, ensuring that no one was left without a gift at Christmas and creating moments of joy through small vacations and family dinners.

Brenda’s parents, Robert Lee Elmer and Phyllis Earp Elmer, have preceded her in death, but their memory lives on through the stories and values Brenda held dear.

A graveside service to honor Brenda’s remarkable life will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026, at San Jacinto Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Houston, TX, at 1:00 PM.

Brenda Gail Duff’s legacy is one of courage, love, and an enduring dedication to those in need. Her caring soul touched many, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her spirit find peace, and may her loved ones find comfort in the warmth of her memory.
