Obituary

Carol Denise Slotnick, a devoted homemaker and cherished family matriarch, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, in Point Blank, Texas. Born on May 23, 1952, in Glendale, California, Carol's life was defined by her unwavering dedication to her loved ones and her passions.

Carol’s commitment to family was at the heart of everything she did. She was the beloved wife of 38 years to Stephen Slotnick, who stood by her side through life’s many chapters. Together, they nurtured a family filled with love and warmth. Carol was the proud mother of Jim Kohl and his wife Katie, and Richard Jackson and his wife Genny. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren—Joshua Kohl, Ryan Jackson, Stevie Jackson, Nathaniel Jackson, Maddie Garza, Marina Garza, and Messina Garza—and to her great-grandchild, Ellie Garza Delara. She also cherished her sister Susan Vasquez and her husband Mike, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and numerous friends who were fortunate to know her kindness and generosity.

A family-oriented woman, Carol was known for her loving nature and a heart that extended beyond people to her devoted dogs, including Brandi, Baloo, Walker, Abby, Max, Taavi, Bailey, Cassie, and Beau. They were her companions and brought her great joy throughout her life.

Educated with an associate degree, Carol was intellectually curious and took pride in her heritage, authoring a book on her genealogy—a testament to her deep respect for the stories and legacies that shape family history. Her talents went beyond the written word; she had a wonderful eye for design and found creative fulfillment in her hobbies of sewing, crafts, and art. These pursuits allowed her to express her unique perspective and contributed to the warmth and beauty of her home.

Carol’s life was marked by grace and resilience, shaped also by the memories of those who preceded her: her parents, Paul Russell and Cherie Sheff; her son, Johnathan Corbin; her sister, Janis Delgado; and her brother, Paul Sheff. Their memories remained an integral part of Carol’s heart and inspired the family she loved so dearly.

Her loss will be deeply felt by all who knew her, as her legacy of love, creativity, and dedication continues to inspire. Carol Denise Slotnick leaves behind a family whose lives she enriched and a community uplifted by her presence. Her memory will forever be a guiding light for those who loved her, an enduring testament to a life well lived and a heart generously shared.

A visitation in honor of Carol's legacy will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., with a funeral service following at 11:00 A.M., both located at Neal Funeral Home, 200 S. Washington Ave. Cleveland, Texas 77327. Interment will immediately follow at Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, Texas.
