Cathy L. Contreras

Cathy Lynn Contreras, a beloved daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was called home on July 3, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on November 17, 1957, Cathy lived a life filled with love, faith, and an unwavering devotion to her family.

Cathy was a faithful servant to the Lord, a quality that defined her spirit and guided her actions throughout her life. Her warmth and affection were evident in her role as a loving and protective mother to her three children, Lena Michelle Hooker and her husband Benson David, Albert (Bubba) Contreras II, and Maranda Lynette Contreras. Cathy’s passion for family was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.

As a sister, Cathy was deeply connected to her sister Charlotta Kay Jaco and her husband David, sharing a bond that exemplified sisterhood and support. She was blessed with the joy of grandchildren, which included Rebekah Howser and Logan "Little Monkey Man" Howser, and great-grandchildren Braxton Howser and Riley Alexander. The laughter and love of these precious children brightened Cathy's life, bringing her immense joy and pride.

Cathy held a special place in her heart for her beloved mother, Ruby Royce Smith, who remains a pillar of strength in their family. She is also survived by many other loving family members and a host of treasured friends who will forever remember the light she brought into their lives.

Cathy enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, finding joy in watching her favorite classic TV shows, including "Gunsmoke" and "Rifleman," as well as tuning into the uplifting singing of Jimmy Swaggart in the comfort of her home. Her spirit resonated with the songs of praise that filled her house, creating an atmosphere of warmth and fellowship.

She is preceded in death by her father, Claud Harold Smith; her sister, Connie Sue Fontenot; her brother, Claud Royce Smith; and her niece, Heather Crow. They are now reunited in eternal peace, and their memories live on in the hearts of those who loved them.

A visitation in honor of Cathy Lynn Contreras will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Neal Funeral Home in Cleveland, Texas. This will be followed by her funeral service at 1:00 PM, where family and friends will gather to celebrate her remarkable life and bid farewell to a truly precious soul.

Cathy’s legacy of love, faith, and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her spirit will forever shine brightly within the hearts of her family and friends, reminding them of the blessed times shared and the love that binds them together.
