March 10, 1953 — February 3, 2026

Shepherd

Glenn Allen Verwold, affectionately known as “Pop,” passed away on February 3, 2026, in Kingwood, Tx at the age of 72. Born on March 10, 1953, in Bryan, Texas, Glenn dedicated his life to his family, work, and a profound faith in the Lord. Glenn was a talented, driven, and self-employed construction worker who could build anything. With skilled hands, a sharp eye, and a tireless work ethic, he turned raw materials into lasting structures and ideas into reality. If something needed fixing, building, or figuring out, Glenn was the one you called. He was known just as much for his words as his work—honest, direct, and often memorable. You always knew where you stood with him, and his conversations were rarely short on personality. Glenn’s passions extended beyond work and included a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and watching old western movies. A devoted fan of Texas sports teams, he cheered for the Houston Oilers, the Houston Texans, and the Dallas Cowboys every football season. At the heart of his interests was an unwavering love for his family, which he cherished above all else. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Myrtle Sue Verwold; his children, Melinda and Jerry Don Scott, Cindy and Greg Ingle, Glenda and Gene Sweat; his grandchildren, Lauren and Johnny Migl, Candan and Ian Gifford, Katie and Justin Nelson, Codie and Aspen Ingle, Cory Don and Olivia Scott, Raylin Sweat, and Cross Sweat. Glenn also took great joy in his great-grandchildren; Braedyn Gifford, Landyn Nelson, Abby Migl, Jackson Scott, Gunnar Migl, Kantyn Nelson, Sara Jackson, Brynn Gifford, Chandler Ingle, Reagan Ingle, and Kyleigh Ingle. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Sue, and her husband Floyd Jackson, along with many loving relatives and friends who will miss him dearly and carry his memory in their hearts forever.

Glenn is preceded in death by his fathers, William Bill Verwold and Al Story; his mother Velma Jane Story; his brothers, Billy Verwold, Tommy Verwold, and James Verwold; and his sister, Velma Jane Elrod.
