Henry "Louie" Louis Niekamp, Jr., 68, of Splendora, Texas, passed away on December 4, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Born on September 18, 1957, in Houston, Texas, to Betty and Henry Niekamp, Sr. Louie’s life was a testament to hard work and an unwavering love and appreciation for his family and for the simple things that brought happiness to others.
Louie was never blessed with any children, but was very close to his nieces and nephews, treating them as his own. Louie found pure joy by the water, fishing pole in his hands, and a cold Dr. Pepper by his side, often accompanied by his cherished lotto tickets. He loved to garden and would share his vegetables with anyone when he had a good crop and had one special chili pequin pepper plant. He loved to barbecue, frequently bringing over a brisket or ribs that he worked on all day. He loved to cook, always trying out new dishes. He had a special talent for transforming ordinary moments into cherished memories, filled with laughter and his playful nature as a prankster – laughing, telling (tall) stories, and making sure everyone around him felt loved. His humor, special door knocks and daily visits for coffee will forever be cherished. He had an infectious spirit that made everyone around him feel valued and loved. Although Louie didn’t have children of his own, Buba and Kristan always celebrated him on Father’s Day, giving gifts that made it known how much Louie was appreciated. His special way of connecting with children brought endless joy, as he had a remarkable talent for entertaining them, always ensuring they were smiling and engaged.
Louie is preceded in death by his father, Henry Louis Niekamp Sr.; his mother, Betty Lou Joslin; his brother James Randall Niekamp, and his sisters Joan Smith and Sandra Arlene Morrow.
Survived by his loving siblings and their spouses, Brenda and David Ray Sr., Sharon Sturm, Larry and Gloria Niekamp, Ronnie and Juanita Niekamp, Karen and JR Rucker, Lisa Niekamp, sister-in-law Tammy Niekamp, and his many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews – whom all loved him dearly. A special thank you to Sharon, whom he lived with these past years. She opened her home, and they shared many fun times going to Palacios and the lake fishing.
A visitation in honor of Louie’s life will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home located at 200 S Washington Ave Cleveland, Texas, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. Interment will immediately follow at Pace-Stancil Memorial Garden in Cleveland, Texas. Friends and family are invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate the life of a man who left an impact on everyone he met.
Louie will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered.
