Obituary

Jacquelyn Lynn Carnes, 60, passed away at her home in Lampasas on May 31, 2026. She was born in Galveston, TX to Bennie Doyle Smith and Joyce Laverne (Hazel) Smith on March 14, 1966.Jackie met the love of her life Lee Carnes in Cleveland, TX in 1986 and they were married in 1987. As a young couple they decided that Lee joining the military would be their best option at supporting their family. Jackie made many sacrifices throughout her life as a military spouse and followed Lee wherever he was sent. She was always supportive to Lee's career choices and military career. Jackie was a caregiver by nature and took care of everyone including her in-laws, Grady Carnes Jr. and Ruby Carnes. She was a hard worker and a friend to everyone. You would rarely ever see her without a Dr. Pepper in her hand, and she was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Above all, Jackie loved her grandkids and would do anything for them without hesitation. 

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and her nephews, Christopher Smith and Garson Evans and her brother-in-law, Mike Honc.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Lee Carnes; her children, Jordy Carnes and wife Brooke, Dusty Carnes, and Farrah Carnes; her brother, Bennie Smith and wife Linda; her sisters, Vicki Bazan and husband Armando and Jennifer Reeves and husband Kelvin; her grandchildren, Raelynn Flowers, Marilee Carnes, Ainsley Cox, and Ireland Carnes; her sisters-in-law, Beverly Miller and husband Bob, and Toni Honc; her brothers-in-law, Mark Honc and Tim Carnes and wife Ally, and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members.

 A Celebration of Life for Jackie will be held at Lampasas Community Church on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 11 am.
