Obituary

James Douglas Bullock, born on September 8, 1952, in Houston, Texas, passed away on March 3, 2026, in Cleveland, Texas. He was a devoted carpenter whose skills and work ethic were a testament to his character and dedication.

James is remembered fondly for his personality, described as a faithful servant to the Lord who cherished his family and friends deeply. His sense of humor was infectious, often bringing joy to those around him with his lighthearted antics. He was known for his playful habit of affectionately slapping people, and his favorite phrase, "Ah Shit," always seemed to bring a smile to those who heard it.

His interests were diverse: he embraced the great outdoors through hunting and fishing, enjoyed sipping on a cold Lone Star beer or Jim Bean, and had a particular fondness for watching western shows. He had a special place in his heart for children, often engaging with them in a manner that made him a beloved figure among the younger generation. He was also well known for his love of “Pot Pies,” which brought comfort to many meals shared with family.

James leaves behind a loving family, including his sister in law, Mary Bullock, and his nieces Lesley Bullock-Holifield and her husband Lamonte, Felicia Bullock, Patricia Payne-Ritchie and her husband Louis, and nephews Ernest Bullock, Kenneth Bullock Jr. and his wife Darlene. His stepchildren: Tommy Bartley, Sherman Bartley, Veronica Kiss, Liz, Jimmy and Becky. His aunts; Gail Dauzet and husband Calvin, Sandy Hyde and husband Sam, and Virginia Santog and husband Gene. Additionally, he is survived by numerous great nieces, nephews, and a host of family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was predeceased by his father, Hermon M. Bullock, mother, Dorothy Maurine McMullen, and grandparents, Ernest McMullen, Essie McMullen, and Ida Cherry. Also preceding him in death were his siblings: Hermon William Bullock, Kenneth Ray Bullock, Leroy Bullock, and Linda Faye Bullock.
