James Jackson "Jim" LaCaze

February 21, 1945 — June 25, 2025

James Jackson “Jim” LaCaze, a beloved Construction Superintendent and the Owner and Operator of American Drywall, went to be with his LORD peacefully on June 25, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on February 21, 1945, in Houston, Texas, Jim was a dedicated family man and a pillar of his community.

Jim proudly served his country as an Army Veteran during the Vietnam War, a testament to his commitment and bravery. Following his military service, he embarked on a career that would not only showcase his exceptional skills in construction but also reflect his hardworking and enterprising spirit. Known for his ability to lead with a steady hand and a warm heart, Jim built a successful business that provided countless families over the years.

His personality shined brightly through his love of life and laughter. A master jokester, Jim was known to agitate playfully, lightening the mood in any gathering. He had a passion for dancing and music, often found enjoying his favorite tunes surrounded by family and friends. As the patriarch of his family, he cherished each moment spent with his loved ones and instilled the importance of faith, being a faithful servant to the LORD and finding solace in the Bible.

In his leisure time, Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting, and frogging—activities that brought him joy and relaxation, often shared with those close to him. His memories are filled with laughter, love, and a sense of togetherness that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Katheryn LaCaze, and their children: Shane LaCaze, Amer Barton and her husband Michael Barton, Crystal LaCaze, and Vicky Thomas and her husband Doug Thomas. He was a proud grandfather to Camaron Vacek and his wife Brittany, Caden Vacek, Carrington Shaw and her husband Spencer, Cortlyn Vacek, Heather Jones, Makenzi LaCaze, Lyndsay Rangel and her husband Gilbert, Reed Thomas, Brody Thomas and his wife Brooke, and Dauson Thomas. In addition to his grandchildren, Jim is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren and other loving relatives, along with a host of friends who will miss his spirited presence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George T. and Wilma LaCaze, and his brother, Tom LaCaze.
