Jerry Swanson, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, son and friend, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, in Shepherd, Texas. Born on May 18, 1954, in Cleveland, Texas, Jerry's life was defined by deep connections to his friends and love for his family.
After a fulfilling career as a logger, he retired with the respect and admiration of all who knew him. Jerry cherished his family and friends deeply and was a beloved figure in his community. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and he also loved sharing a good meal. His skill at chess and poker will be remembered by anyone who had the opportunity to sit across the table from him.
Jerry will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his two "baby girls": Heather Swanson, her husband Johnny Ray, Miranda Hawthorne, and her husband Chris. each of whom carry forward his legacy of loyalty and integrity. One of his life's biggest blessings was being PeePaw to Aeszyiah Hawthorne, Taevyn Hawthorne, Taeyiah Hawthorne, Kashyias Hawthorne, Taurean Turner, Atlyis Turner, Makayla Boling, Hazel Wible, and HarpLynn Lloyd. Jerry took immense pride in watching these babies grow, and his presence will be deeply missed at every milestone and family gathering. His absence will surely be felt by all of his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends as well.
He is also survived by his siblings, Troy Swanson, his wife Linda Swanson, sister Candy Benner, her husband Gary Benner, and Bobby Swanson who shared decades of family memories, laughter, and enduring support. Their bond was one of mutual respect and unwavering affection, constants in Jerry's journey through life's many seasons.
Jerry's life was shaped early on by the loving guidance of his late parents, Rusty and Inez Swanson. He was also predeceased by his sister Doretha Roberts, brother-in-law RJ Roberts, sister-in-law Brenda Swanson, grandson Acean Turner, and brother's in Christ, Charles Boling and Dennis Washburn. Their absence was felt deeply in Jerry’s heart, and he carried their memories with honor and love throughout his days.
Those who knew Jerry remember him for his deep loyalty and limitless generosity. Whether with kind words, a listening ear, or helping hands, Jerry was always ready to help those around him. His smile brought light to many, his laughter brought joy to all, and his wisdom offered comfort in times of need. His legacy will live through anyone he shared his love with.
A memorial service in honor of Jerry's legacy will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the Brooks' Property located at 7158 County Road 2252, Cleveland, Tx 77327, beginning at 1:00 PM.
All arrangements to be handled under the trusted care of Neal Funeral Home.
