Obituary

Johnny Lee Colburn, a devoted family man and servant to the Lord, entered into rest on May 1, 2026, in Houston, Texas. Born on November 4, 1961, in Dayton, Texas, Johnny’s life was one defined by his love for the outdoors, his family, and his steadfast faith.

Johnny’s career as a logger was a testament to his deep connection with nature and the rugged landscape of Texas. He found joy in the hard work and solitude the woods provided, embodying the spirit of a true outdoorsman. Beyond his labor in the forest, Johnny enjoyed spending his time hog and deer hunting, as well as fishing in the peaceful waters that matched his enduring love for country and Cajun music. During his free time, Johnny would sit back, relax, and watch his favorite Western movies and shows. Always ready for adventure, Johnny would hop into his Jeep to explore new trails, embracing the challenge of any mudhole that dared to cross his path

Johnny’s greatest passion was his family. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, Gloria Jean Colburn, who stood by him through every season of life. Together they raised a family that meant the world to him. Johnny is survived by his children, Justin Lee Colburn and his wife Tabetha, Tanya Coker and her husband Steven, Lorenzo Morgan and his wife Shannon, and Amanda Colburn. Also celebrating his life are his grandchildren, Kimberly Lloyd and husband Hunter, Landon Morgan, Justin Morgan, Hunter Morgan, Chevy Morgan, Colt Coker, Summer Coker, Hunter Coker, and Steven Coker; his great-grandchildren, Corbin Lloyd, Colson Lloyd, Casten Lloyd, and Coewen Lloyd; his brothers, James Clifton Colburn, and Kenneth Vansyckle and his wife Lisa, and his sister Ann Colburn; and his beloved dog, Roo. Johnny’s circle is further enriched by many other loving family members and treasured friends who hold his memory close.

He joins in eternal rest his cherished daughter, Carla Jean Morgan, and his beloved parents, James Lee Colburn and Peggy Sue Murphy, whose memories live on in the hearts of all who knew them.

Johnny Lee Colburn’s life was a remarkable story of love, faith, and the enduring spirit of the Texas woods. His legacy endures in his family’s love, his friendship, and the many lives he touched with his gentle strength and unwavering devotion. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
