Johnny Charles McShan, born on March 25, 1962, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on November 25, 2024, in Onalaska, Texas.
Johnny was loved by all, everything he did in life he did with his whole heart. The love he had for his family and friends ran deep. Johnny especially loved his relationship with his father, his lifelong best friend. We know he is happy to be together with him again.
He possessed a vibrant personality that drew people towards him, and his enthusiasm for life was evident in everything he did. He was a jack of all trades, but he loved woodworking in particular. If anything was broken, he was the first to try to fix it. One of his happy places was in his shop or garage working on a project that he always gifted to those he loved. He was also an avid outdoorsman, loving hunting and fishing. He often recounted the numerous fishing tournaments he was in with a few of you and loved every second of it. He also loved to hunt with his son JC, and in his younger years, he enjoyed being at the deer lease with the old timers such as his dad, Buddy Partain, CB Faulkner, Sam Collins, and their dogs, and the list goes on.
Among Johnny's many interests, he had a deep appreciation for westerns, with favorites like "Lonesome Dove" being a testament to his love for storytelling in a rugged setting. He read the book twice and could recite the entire show word for word. One of his favorite quotes was " Ain't nothin better than riding a fine horse through a new country, Gus Mcrae." His favorite band was Lynyrd Skynyrd, with his favorite song being "Free Bird" which echoed his free-spirited nature.
He was also a huge Dallas Cowboys fan, cheering passionately for his team no matter if they won, lost, or if it was a draw.
Johnny is survived by his loving partner of 12 years, Ginger Partain; his mother, Patsy Elliot McShan; and his children, Hailey Davis and husband Dillon, Jonathan McShan, Megan Partain, and Michael Ray Partain II. He cherished times spent with his grandchildren Who he loved more than the Dallas Cowboys winning the Super Bowl, Maverick Davis and Grace Ashworth, and his brother, Colin McShan (the Texans Fan), and wife Jennifer. His legacy extends to his nieces and nephews, Rachel Brock and husband
Haston, Corine McShan, Zade McShan, KiKi McShan; as well as a great-niece, Rylie Brock, and a great-nephew, Jack Brock. Johnny's family includes numerous other relatives and friends who were touched by his kind spirit. Johnny is preceded in death by his father, John McShan who is sitting on a front porch in heaven reading a war story with his son.
