Born August 30, 1958

Kay Elaine Ebner passed away on June 18, 2026, and the world is already missing her stubborn love, strength, and curiosity. She fought a long battle with breast cancer and passed while she was home, at her ranch; surrounded by her family, Bennett, Lorna, Leah, Lyndsey, and Terry. She was surrounded by love. The night before, her family played her favorite music and sang to her like the car concerts from many shared years of family car trips. She was smiling.

Kay lived several lives in the time she gave us, taking on titles like teacher, mom, CFO, wife, Hallmark enthusiast, friend, sister, student, daughter and so many more. Kay and her husband, Bennett, were partners in the sawmill business at Rye for over 40 years and shaped that corner of the world with the high expectations that she demanded of herself and others to “act right.”

Kay built a life by her own standards approaching every moment and person with a smile. Those who knew her best remember her protective temper and endless capabilities. The people she loved most felt like they could conquer the world because she was just a phone call away and would move mountains to make things happen. Her family knows that she could walk on water, sense our moods before the first sentence during a phone call, and gave the most loving amazing hugs. She loved her ranch, it was her favorite place in the world, and she loved her animals. Those she loved could feel it physically every day.

Kay’s favorite things (order depending on the day) were her family, ranch, animals, photography, scuba diving, holidays, and her avid love of reading. She was known for her unerring sense of how to show her love and concern through care packages, homemade family recipes, and the ability to steer your decisions in the right direction while making you think it was your idea in the first place. She was a fierce protector to those she loved. Her faith in God was a daily presence in her life and a cornerstone for the brightness she shared with the world.

The immediate family had a private service in her honor and in her wishes. In lieu of flowers or services, memorial contributions may be made to the charities and causes that were dear to Kay's heart (listed below).

We would be grateful for any words of love, comfort, and especially memories of Kay shared in the comments below. Stories of the moments, laughter, kindness, stubbornness, and friendship she brought to others are a meaningful source of comfort during this time, to her children, husband, and friends.

The family respectfully requests privacy as they grieve and celebrate Kay's life.

All arrangements to be handled under the trusted care of Neal Funeral Home.
