Kenneth "Kenny" Wayne Staggs, born June 16, 1970, in Houston, Texas, passed away on May 18, 2026, in his hometown of Houston. Kenny lived a life defined by his love of family, faith, and the simple joys that made his spirit unique. He called himself, Kaptain Ken and that stayed with him.
Kenny dedicated much of his working life as an appliance installer, a role in which he took pride and through which he touched many lives. Beyond his work, he was a man of great personality and spirit. A faithful servant to the Lord, Kenny’s warmth and humor shone brightly. Many believed his true calling was to be a standup comedian and impersonator, for he delighted in conversation and could light up a room with his stories and wit.
His passions were vivid and varied. As a young man, Kenny pursued the thrill of drag racing, driving a drag car with gusto. He loved the outdoors, spending cherished moments at the river. His heart held a special place for country music, trucks, and mudding. He was an avid fan of the classic television show Gunsmoke and enjoyed watching NASCAR races. Bingo was another pastime he enjoyed, always embracing life with enthusiasm and vigor.
Kenny was deeply devoted to his family and friends. He is survived by his father, Gene Staggs, and a stepmother, Angie Rohus; his children, Chanzler Staggs and fiancé Maci, Darien Staggs-Lange and husband Jacob, Kendell Staggs and his late fiancé Ashley Sotelo and Mason Staggs. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Jessica Trafton, as well as his stepbrother Dustin Rohus. Kenny’s legacy continues in his loving grandchildren: Cayson Staggs, Brynlee Staggs, Hadleigh Lange, River Lange, Lexie Lange, Jameson Johnson, Hayden Henkhaus, and Hadley Henkhaus. Additionally, he leaves behind other relatives and a host of friends who cherished him deeply.
Kenny was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Dian Kitchens, his sister, Laura Gilman, and his brother, Danny Staggs. Their memory and love remain an enduring part of who he was.
A visitation will be held on June 7, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Neal Funeral Home, located at 200 S Washington Ave, Cleveland, Texas 77327. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring Kenny’s life and the remarkable spirit with which he lived.
Kenneth "Kenny" Wayne Staggs will be remembered not only for his humorous and lively demeanor but also for the profound love he carried for his family and faith. As we bid farewell to him, we hold close the memories of a man who truly lived life his way—running, gunning, and laughing all the while. Though later in life he faced health challenges, we believe now he is running up the steps to Heaven. May he rest in peace, forever free and embraced by the grace he so deeply believed in.
