Obituary

Mary Francis "Fran" Creel, born on April 16, 1935, in Daisetta, Texas, peacefully passed away on June 16, 2026, in New Caney, Texas. She was a devoted and faithful servant of the Lord, whose life was marked by love for her family, her faith, and a variety of cherished pastimes.

Fran’s early years reflected a creative and independent spirit; she made her own clothes and cultivated a deep passion for sewing, painting, crocheting, canning, cooking, and gardening. In addition to these talents, she was active in sports, proudly playing basketball and delighting in cheerleading during her youth. Her boundless energy and enthusiasm left an indelible mark on those around her.

Family was at the heart of Fran’s life. She was particularly thrilled about the upcoming birth of her great-great-granddaughter, Laikley Len Palmer, to Coby Palmer, notably the only girl in the fifth generation of her family—a source of immense joy and pride. Fran’s legacy is carried on by her son, Gregory L. Palmer, and his wife Diana; her siblings Betty Brown and husband JM, Lewis Edward Davis and wife Karen, Sue Dudley and husband Kenneth, Byron Davis and wife Carolyn, Kenny Davis, Dorothy Brown and husband Darrell, and Brenda Williams and husband Bill. She also leaves behind grandchildren Jason Palmer and wife Jodi, Michael Palmer and wife Jennifer, as well as great-grandchildren Coby Palmer, Trent Palmer, and Cory Palmer. Along with her immediate family, Fran is remembered lovingly by many extended relatives and a host of friends who cherished her warmth and generosity.

Fran was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Billy A. Creel; her parents, William Howard Davis and Tina Pauline Davis; and her brothers, Thurman Davis and James Therrell Davis. Their memories remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.

Mary Francis "Fran" Creel lived a life filled with faith, creativity, and devotion to family. Her enduring spirit and loving nature will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
