Opal Nadine Gloria, a cherished matriarch and devoted servant of the Lord, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, in Splendora, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith that will profoundly resonate with all who were fortunate enough to know her. Born on May 4, 1941, in Nacogdoches, Texas, Opal touched many hearts throughout her remarkable life.
Opal was not just a mother but a nurturing figure whose unwavering strength and kindness shaped the lives of countless individuals. Unfortunately at the very young age of 30 she was left with all 7 of her children to bring up in this world and will forever be thankful by her children. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Bobbie Gloria and his wife Lamar, Paula Martinez, James Gloria and his wife Lisa, Pamela Gloria, David Gloria and his wife Maria, and Patricia Gloria. Each of them carries forward her spirit, embodying the values she instilled. She is also survived by her brother Sam Votaw.
Her legacy extends further through her grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart and whom she adored unconditionally. Jacob, Bobby, Bryan, Amanda, Stephanie, Michael, Monica, Rachel, Eric, Paco, Noe, Javier, Mary, Ana, Baby Dave, Michael, Amber, Nicky, Meagan, Samantha, Kevin, Kelby, Jimmy and Ashley were blessed to experience her boundless love. Opal embraced her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother with pride, reveling in the joy her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren brought into her life.
Her devotion to faith was unwavering; Opal was a member of The Lord's Chapel in Cleveland, Texas, where she served with sincerity and grace.
Opal now rests alongside her beloved husband, Cornelio Friday Gloria, and her dearly departed parents, Ernest Simons and Pauline Votaw. She is also reunited with her son, Simon Gloria, her daughter, Linda Hooper, her brothers Harvey Smitherman, Ernest Simons Jr., Willie Simons, and Wayne Simons, and her sister Martha Gustin. Their collective memories now contribute to an eternal bond that she cherished throughout her life.
In these moments of grief, her family and friends remember the laughter, love, and grace that defined Opal's journey. An indomitable spirit, Opal Nadine Gloria leaves an everlasting imprint on the hearts of everyone she encountered. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide all who loved her. She will be profoundly missed but forever remembered.
