Pastor A.V. Walters

July 3, 1936 — January 31, 2024

Pastor A.V. Walters left this world and made his one-way trip to heaven on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family. They had the joy of witnessing him going to sleep and then waking up in glory. Our family is saddened by our separation from him, but he is having his best day ever, and for that, we are rejoicing. He is in the presence of the Lord. He ran his race all the way to the finish line. He will be missed here, but now heaven is sounding even sweeter. Pastor and Sister Walters served in pastoral ministry for over 50 years, loving and guarding the flock while spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. Pastor Walters never met a stranger. He had an excellent spirit and his friendly personality attracted people to him and in turn drew them to Jesus. Pastor and Sister Walters have been married for almost 68 years. Together they positively impacted so many lives. His legacy is already being carried forward through his children, grandchildren, and even his great-grandchildren. These young people are in music and worship ministry, as well as spreading the Gospel through the anointed preaching of God’s word. Pastor Walters is home now, and the baton has been handed off to other members of our family. He is absent from this world, but he is resting in the presence of the Lord.  His life was a life lived well! John 13:35  By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another. Pastor A.V. Walters is preceded in death by his parents Henry & Hattie Walters; brothers, Willie Walters and Jimmy Walters; sisters, Rosie Luckey and Elter Walters; grandson, Josh Buckner; granddaughter, Tasha Morrow; great-granddaughter,  Samantha Marlee Wilson and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Floyd and Della Mizell. Those left to cherish these precious memories are his loving wife of 68 years, Shirley Walters; his wonderful children, Freida Wilson and husband Robert, Elter Lambert and husband Doc, Robert Walters and wife Wanda and  Dewayne Walters and wife Carole; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving family and treasured friends.  Visitation for Pastor Walters will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2024 from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM at Cornerstone Church of Cleveland. A service of remembrance will also be held on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at 2:30 PM at Cornerstone Church of Cleveland.
