Ted Newton Cheek, affectionately known as "Snake," passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on July 7, 1956, in Dallas, Texas, Ted was a loving father, devoted brother, and a cherished grandfather who left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Ted led a life full of adventure and joy. He was a faithful servant to the Lord, embodying the values of love, kindness, and compassion. His zest for life was evident in his many passions; he found solace and excitement in riding motorcycles, embarking on countless journeys across the country. The thrill of the open road was matched only by his love for fishing and camping, which he often enjoyed in the company of his grandchildren. Ted’s creativity was matched only by his hands-on skills; he was an excellent craftsman, bringing joy and beauty into the lives of those around him.
Ted is survived by his beloved children, Trina Busler and her husband Greg, and Ted Newton Cheek II and his wife Cheryl. He also leaves behind his cherished siblings, his brother Ronnie Cheek and his wife Mama Ruth, and his sister Jeanie Buske and her husband Junior. His family grew with the joy of numerous grandchildren: Tristen Stowe, Marybeth Buske, Tony Cheek, Trey Kimberlin, Devin Martinez, Cameron Stear, Ava Cheek, Kaitlyn Cheek, and Tyler Cheek. He was also a proud great-grandfather to little Nash Martinez. Each family member held a special place in Ted’s heart, and he cherished the time spent creating beautiful memories with them.
Ted is joined in eternal rest by his father, Jesse Thomas Cheek Jr., mother, Hollijean Elizabeth Cheek-Pipkin, and his brothers, Tommy Jesse Cheek and Jerry Cheek. Their love and guidance were a significant influence in his life, shaping the kind-hearted man he became.
Ted’s adventurous soul, love for family, and heartfelt friendships will forever be remembered, and his legacy will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
