Willie Glenn Grassity, a highly respected member of his community, passed away on October 16, 2025, in Cleveland, Texas, at the age of 96. Born on June 24, 1929, in Shiro, Texas, Willie lived a life characterized by dedication, passion, and a love for God, his family and country.
Willie proudly served his nation during the Korean War from January 18, 1951, to October 17, 1953, as a Private, earning an honorable discharge that reflected his commitment to service. His military experiences were a testament to his character and shaped the way he approached life with a sense of duty and perseverance.
In his professional life, Willie was a dedicated machine operator specializing in work with Caterpillar Tractors. His expertise contributed significantly to the successes of the projects he undertook, leaving a mark in the industry that is remembered by colleagues and peers alike.
Willie was not just defined by his work but also by his gentle giant spirit. He was recognized by many by his gentleness but those who knew him well knew he would be a giant in their corner anytime he was needed. He was an avid sports enthusiast. As a young man, he loved to bowl and was found most evenings at the bowling alley participating in the latest tournament. His passion for sports extended beyond participation; he cherished moments spent watching games and celebrating victories with his family; especially his sons and grandsons. Additionally, he took pride in owning his custom-made 1981 Trans AM and Harley Davidson motorcycle. The more power the better was Willie’s idea of the perfect motor.
Willie was a devoted member of The Sanctuary Church in Cleveland, Texas. Along with his wife, they became members in 1997 and have continued to serve faithfully wherever asked. You could find him both vacuuming the carpet as well as serving as Elder and on the Board of Directors. When unable to attend church, they continued with weekly prayer and bible studies in their home. He was the epitome of 1 Thessalonians 5:17. He not only prayed but praised without ceasing. He loved, honored, and showed respect to everyone he met. He truly lived what he believed.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marisela Grassity, with whom he shared 49 beautiful years. Willie was a loving father to his children: Paula Grassity, Kiellin Grassity and his wife Donna, Diane Williams and her husband Dr. Rev. Gary R Williams, Luis E. Grassity and his wife Monica, and Christopher Grassity and his wife Georgia. His legacy lives on through a very large and cherished family, including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and friends who were also family, all of whom will remember him fondly.
